U. S. Coast Guard and STCW Approved Class – two weeks

Recently the USCG has adopted the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Polar Code. The Polar Code has updated training guidelines for mariners operating in the Arctic and Antarctic Regions. By completing Basic Training for Polar Operations and Advanced Training for Polar Operations mariners will have meet all the training requirements of AVTEC's original two week Ice Navigation Course and the IMO Polar Code.


Designed for licensed deck officers needing Ice Navigation training. Any mariner completing this course will satisfy the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency for "voyage planning and navigation: ice" requirement of Section A-II/2 and Table A-II/2 and Section A-11/3, 

Table A-11/3 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010, and tasks 1.1.A.4 of NVIC 10-14 and 1.1.A.3 of NVIC 11-14.
