AVTEC PLANS TO WELCOME STUDENTS BACK TO CAMPUS SEPTEMBER 8

Cathy LeCompte

Given that currently the Eastern Kenai Peninsula (Seward and the environs) is at a risk factor RED, the decision was made to push the date AVTEC would be welcoming students back on campus for the term based training to SEPTEMBER 8.

Some of the training programs are able to pivot to online delivery and plan to do...the students in those programs will be notified by their instructors.   Students in the programs that are not able to do online delivery will be contacted by their instructors.  The Alaska Maritime Training Center has been offering courses throughout the summer and will continue to do so into the fall.

The Financial Aid Office will be contacting students about their payments and financial aid issues and the Residence Life Director will work with students to get them into the residence halls when it is time and AVTEC apartments as appropriate. Students can call (907) 224-3322 to get connected to the AVTEC staff member that can answer their questions.

The City of Seward set in place ordinances for the next 30 days, intended to flatten the curve and move Seward out of the red zone. We will be monitoring the health of the community and will keep all informed of next steps via email, phone calls and this blog as we get closer to September 8.
