QMED Oiler - Contact Hours:  360

This class is designed for entry level engine room mariners.  This is a test preparation course designed to prepare the mariner to take the QMED-Oiler exam at a Coast Guard Regional Exam Center. 

 

Candidates for this course should have a minimum of 10th grade reading and math level skills. For specific information on entry guidelines in reading and mathematics for this program, contact the Admissions Office at (800) 478-5389.

 

QMED Junior Engineer

(course under development)

This course is designed to satisfy the professional examination requirements for 46 CFR 12.501(c)(5) for a national rating endorsement as QMED-Junior Engineer.  Any candidate successfully completing this course and submitting the Certificate of Training within one year of the completion of training will satisfy the CFR requirements and not be required to take the exam at a Coast Guard Reginal Examination Center.

Industry Certification: 

In order to fulfill all of the QMED requirements, the applicant must also present documentation showing at least 180 days engine room sea time, and the training requirements of 46 CFR 12.15-3 (e) and 

Section A-111/4 and Table A-111/4 of the STCW Code.
