The 2020 AVTEC/Seward Job Fair scheduled for April 2nd has been cancelled.  In lieu of attending the Job Fair, employers may email job postings or arrange to present information about their company and job opportunities via Zoom to AVTEC students.  Contact Rachel James rachel.james@avtec.edu for either of those options.

The health and safety of our students, staff and the community is our highest priority and to that end AVTEC is taking cautionary measures and SUSPENDING ALL PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE AVTEC GYM AND STUDENT SERVICES CENTER effective COB 03.16.2020.

We encourage all to monitor the SOA DHSS web site at  http://dhss.alaska.gov/dph/Epi/id/Pages/COVID-19/monitoring.aspx  for the latest information specific to Alaska.

Please visit the CDC website for up to date recommendations and guidelines on personal self-care and protecting self and others https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html

The courses offered by the Alaska Maritime Training Center are short in duration and the students who attend are from many different states and countries where the COVID-19 may be more active so out of an abundance of caution AVTEC is suspending all courses and services offered by the Alaska Maritime Training Center (AMTC) effective 03.16.2020 until the end of the term.

At this time, there are no known cases of COVID-19 within AVTEC or the Seward community.

AVTEC is open for business and all classes (with the exception of the Alaska Maritime Training Center courses) will be in session on Monday 03.16.2020 as we continue to assess and monitor this rapidly evolving situation.  Please see below for some action that we are taking now and possible next steps.

The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) received two donations that were eligible for the Alaska Educational Tax Credit which is offered to private businesses who make charitable contributions to support schools in the state. Golden Alaska Seafood’s, a for-profit partner and multi-year contributor with the Yukon Delta Fisheries Association, donated $150,000 and Shelford’s Board Ltd donated $25,000.
