U.S. Coast Guard Approved Class - three weeks
Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Class - this three-week course will enable mariners to obtain their OUPV captain’s license. This class is perfect for individuals looking to run charter fishing boats, water taxis, and sight-seeing vessels with six passengers or less.
AVTEC Maritime’s OUPV Course is specifically designed to ensure the student is well versed in the topics necessary to operate as a USCG approved Captain. The student will be well versed in topics such as Rules of the Road, Chart Navigation, Deck Safety and will be exposed to practical, real life, operational scenarios. Required license testing will occur at AVTEC, and upon successful completion mariners may submit their certificate to the USCG for credential issuance.
Once completed this course satisfies the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(j)(1) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10.227(e)(1)(iii) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(i) for reissuance for the following endorsement:
Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) (Near Coastal, or Great Lakes and Inland, or Inland Waters).
